Requirements for Graduation
Normal Level
The Board of Studies recommends to the Governing Board of the College that the degree be awarded when the following requirements of the course have been satisfied:
- The requirements for each unit (including attendance at lectures and tutorials, submission of all required assessments and completion of non-assessed tasks) in which a student is enrolled have been fulfilled;
- At least 50% has been obtained both in the internal assessments as a group and the external assessment for each completed unit;
- Course work units are chosen from the three fields of study, namely, Biblical Studies, Christian Thought and Christian Ministry. Students must complete four or five units from one field (their chosen field of specialisation), and at least one unit proper from each of the other two fields.
- Where two units of advanced standing are granted from the BD or equivalent, one unit will be deemed to be Biblical Studies and one Christian Thought. When a third unit of advanced standing is granted from the BD (Hons), it will be deemed to be the field in which the BD Project was written.
- Students are required to complete successfully at least one unit involving the study of a book of the Bible in the original language. Advanced standing may not be claimed for this unit. It may be taken at any stage throughout the course.
- Eight units (including those for which advanced standing is granted) have been passed.
Graduation with Merit
The Board of Studies recommends to the Governing Board of the College that the degree be awarded with merit when the foregoing requirements have been satisfied and:
- The average of the marks in the required 8 units is not less than 75%; and
- At least one Project (CT599) has been passed.
