Thesis Guidelines
MTh and candidates are required to submit two bound copies of their thesis to the Registrar of Moore College.
The thesis should be printed or typed on A4 paper in black ink, doubled spaced and with a 3 cm margin on the left hand side and at least a 2 cm margin at the top, bottom and right hand side.
The title page should include the thesis title, your name and date of submission. The following sample should be followed:
FAITH IN HEBREWS
by
Luke L. Cheung
Submitted in partial fulfilment for the
degree of Master of Theology
Moore Theological College
Newtown, N.S.W.
November, 2002
The title page is then followed by the signed certifications of the candidate and supervisor, using the following words:
Candidate
`I certify that the substance of this dissertation of ... words (excluding bibliography), has not previously been submitted for any degree and is not currently being submitted for any other degree. I also certify that any assistance received in conducting the research embodied in the dissertation, and all sources used, have been acknowledged in the text or notes.'
Supervisor
`I consider that this dissertation is in a form suitable for examination and conforms to the requirements of the Australian College of Theology for the degree of Master of Theology.'
An abstract, containing a summary of the thesis suitable for separate publication, should follow the title page. It should be a piece of continuous prose of around 300 words in length.
The thesis should not exceed 30,000 words in length. It should include a bibliography of all works consulted in the preparation of the thesis. Footnotes are preferable to endnotes. Bibliographic material in footnotes, bibliography and synopsis are not included in word length. However, commentary and analysis in footnotes must be counted. Footnotes should not exceed 25% of the prescribed length.
It is recommended that candidates submit both copies of their thesis in a temporary binding (e.g. with plastic spiral spine). This enables any corrections which the examiners may recommend to be made before the degree can be awarded. Once the thesis has been approved by the examiners, the candidate must arrange for the permanent binding of the thesis on archive paper. Two copies are to lodged with the Moore College Library. The title of the thesis and the candidate's name and initials should appear on the front cover of the bound thesis together with the name of the degree and the year of submission. The spine of the thesis should contain the title of the thesis (abbreviate where necessary) and the candidate's name and initials.
