Applying to Study
The normal academic pre-requisite for the BD (or BTh) course is a degree from an Australian university or the equivalent. Inquiries are welcomed from Australian residents without a university degree as mature age students may qualify through an entrance examination. For the academic requirements for admission to the MA (Theology), MTh and PhD (Sydney or UWS) programs see the separate admission requirements set out under each Postgraduate Study Program. Fees are also set out under each program.
The steps in applying for Postgraduate admission to Moore Theological College include the following:
- Provide us with certified academic transcripts for all tertiary qualifications to date to establish that you meet the academic pre-requisites.
- Proof of studies in either Greek or Hebrew if you are a pursuing a MA (Theology) or MTh degree.
- Provide us with a certified copy of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) result with at least 7.0 in all categories for postgraduate courses. All applicants whose first language is not English are required to sit an examination administered by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). These exams are held on a regular basis in most African and Asian countries. Details of the nearest centre may be obtained by contacting your local Australian or British Consulate. Please see the IELTS requirements at www.ielts.org/.
- Provide us with two references, including one from your current minister/pastor or denominational leader.
Depending on the foregoing, we would arrange for your preliminary interview by the Principal or a person on behalf of the Principal.
For International applicants, before a preliminary interview is arranged the following must be provided:
- A certified copy of the academic transcripts for all tertiary qualifications;
- Proof of studies in either Greek or Hebrew if you are a pursuing a MA (Theology) or MTh degree.
- Provide us with a certified copy of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) result with at least 7.0 in all categories for postgraduate courses. - Provide us with evidence that on graduation you would have a ministry directly dependent on the benefits you would gain from the course.
- Two references, including one from current pastor or denominational leader.
Depending on the foregoing, we would arrange for your preliminary interview by the Principal or a person on behalf of the Principal. Application forms are provided depending on the outcome of the preliminary interview.
Once application forms and associated documents are received, the Postgraduate Committee will review the application and decide whether the application should be endorsed to the Board of Studies.
